The collection refers to the famous myth of the abduction of Europa by Zeus in the shape of o bull and refers to the Greek roots of the culture of our continent. " Mary Papaconstantinou was born in Oinousses Chios. She studied at the School of Fine Arts, where she received the Diploma of Sculpture and Theoretical and Historical Studies. She continued her studies in London in the field of history of art and culture.
Mary Papaconstantinou took part in about 150 International group sculpture and painting exhibitions around the world . Her works are in public places in Greece and abroad .The subject matter of her works focusses in areas mainly inspired by Greek mythology :
" Aegean ", " maternity in Space ", " Abduction of Europe” and “sculptures of the Homeric Epics ".
She was elected as WOMAN OF EUROPE in 1989-90 following an award as GREEK WOMAN OF EUROPE .In addition to this important distinction she was awarded medals of the cities of Strasbourg ,of Paris and of Athens in separate ceremonies.
The interests of Mary Papaconstantinou do not stop here but continue to painting , printmaking , literature and writing books . Her participation in international conferences are frequent , which shows the impact of her personality and her work abroad.
